Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy was established in 1964. The Honours stream was introduced in 1998. The departmental library has 200 books. There is a computer with internet facility. The annual programme commemorates Teachers’ Day. In 2012 its theme was Women’s Righst and Liberation. A portion of Tagore’s dance drama “Chitrangada” was enacted by the students of the department. A debate was also organised for all the students of the college on the topic “We have Failed to Protect Women’s Liberation”. The top speakers won ample praise and prizes. The students decorated the lecture hall with a well-conceived set of charts and posters. All the students of the department were invited for a tour of ISKON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), Mayapur, in February 2013. A lecture on Vaishnava philosophy was arranged in Lord Prabhupada’s temple.
